(60) Support aperture automation with old K and M type lenses (no need to alter hardware, just firmware)How:
1) Once the camera user attaches a new lens without contacts the camera asks if it is a new unknown lens or one already stored (displays stored lenses overview if required)
1a1) if already stored load data from memory (or sd card) after displaying a list of sored lenses and selecting it.
1a2) display message to user to turn aperture control ring on lens to maximum F-Number
1b1) if unknown ask for focal length, maximum and minimum apertures (choose from list)
1b2) ask for user to input lens name to save in memory or on sd card
1b3) display message to user:
"turn aperture control ring so that aperture is closed as far as possible (F16+)" and "place camera with lens anywhere with a constant lighting setting" and "press ok to continue"
1b4) once user presses ok the camera meters the light influx with the aperture control motor pushing the aperture lever fully open
1b5) following this the camera step by step stops down the lens using the aperture control motor (using 10-20 steps) and after each steps meters again. This way the camera learns the exact position of the aperture lever for each meter reading. Some of the positions will be full stop positions (that is each position where the meter reading compared to the known fully open metering differs so much). The whole process should not take longer than a second or two.
1b6) the camera saves to data into memory or on sd card
2) from here on the user can choose aperture freely using the camera control wheels and use full functionality just like with A-type Pentax lenses, as the camera now knows exactly how far to push the aperture lever to set it to a certain aperture setting.
Memory should hold at least 20 slots of lens data.
